Camp Believe - New Dreams, Guerrilla rocks!

Camp Believe was awesome. For those who did not participate actively, i think you miss the whole big part of being in ET Zone!

Sometimes i really do wonder why some people actually do not want to try to just mingle with people they do not know. Who knows, you may find new friends, people who really go through thick and thin with you!

I found new friends through all the camps and this allowed my generation people to be so bonded. We can just hang around randomly yet not feel weird. Why the new generation want to give this a miss? I really wonder. They do not know what they have missed out!

Or, is it just my personality?? haha...

The 3 days of camp sessions were just awesome! The presence and power of God was there! You can actually feel it. I do not know about you, but it was like so real to me. Been so long since i last felt such strong power of God. The whole week was just being refreshed, touched, renewed to run with God once again!

One evident that the Holy Spirit is present in our lives:

ALL the sermons linked! Bro Ed's, Jerb and Pastor Kong's sermon just linked! Did you realize??

If you didnt, hmm.. i think you need to start asking God to draw closer to Him.

I mean, do you think Pastor Kong share his sermon with the leaders before he preached on sunday? i doubt so. Camp Believe asked you about your dream, Pastor Kong preached about dreams!

Now, im shouting out to you: WHAT IS YOUR DREAM?

Think about it. What is yours? If you do not have one, start to pray and visualize! This is so important!

Brethren, i beseech you, since you are in the jouney with God, put all your hands, body, mind, soul into the God's world! Do not turn back and start to walk by faith! Do not stop, just give it a try! You will find a whole new journey and meaning to life!

Back to camp thoughts:

I love it. Love it when im able to see a team, people from different walks of life, because they gave themselves a chance to know people, they formed new friendship and that's the result of Team Guerrilla winnning! I am so proud of them. Needless to say, i am their facilitator! haha..

I wish there was a “comment” button for blogs to comment on jia’s entry on fasting. but unfortunately not, so i shall blog about it! (:

It’s been awhile since i last did a LONG fast – 5 days of beverage only. but i must say that i’m super duperly recharged and refreshed! more sensitive to the Holy Spirit, and more dependent on God in everything that I do. (:

the presence and encounters I experience make me hunger for more! feel like I want to always go on long fasts, coz the presence of God is soo addictive!

and that just reminds me of how we need to pray and fast when we’re feeling dry! all the more, we should be hungry and press in to seek His face! (:

also together with the morning prayer meetings, my faith level just grew greater and greater!!

encourage you guys to start fasting toooo!

The Power of Fasting
December 4, 2009

Spiritual: There are a number of very good reasons why we Christians should fast:

a. Breaking the power of the carnal flesh. Our fallen nature is so tightly linked to the physical appetites of our human body. The more inordinately we yield to our physical drives (such as hunger, sleep, sex), the more we embolden the carnal nature of our undisciplined flesh. Apostle Paul himself was fully aware of the power of the flesh, and constantly disciplined his body “to bring it into subjection” (1 Cor. 9:27). One of the ways he did this was “in fastings often.” (2 Cor. 11:27). As I deprive my body of its craving for food, I am taming my flesh and bringing it into subjection to my spirit. By the end of my fasting period, I often find myself more spiritual, more heavenly minded, more in tune with God, and more sensitive to His voice. In fact, the Scripture records that the reason the church leaders of Antioch were so sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit, concerning His plan to reach the Gentile world, was a direct result of prayer and fasting (Acts 13:2).

b. Self-humbling before the Lord. This is the reason why the saints in the Bible fast (Ps. 35:13). They were reminding themselves that they were weak in their own human strength to achieve the big visions and goals that God had set before them. The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak (Matt. 26:41). Therefore if our God-ordained dream is going to happen, it must be by a supernatural work of the Lord.

Fasting heightens that awareness. When I fast, I feel so weak in myself. I can’t workout in the gym. I can’t run five km (three miles) each day. After every service during my 21-day fasting season, I often felt like “crashing.” I would then cry out to the Lord, “Jesus, I can’t do it, please help me by the power of Your Holy Spirit!” God will always give grace to the humble (James 4:6; 1 Peter 5:5).

c. Increasing the anointing level. Jesus says that certain demons can’t be expelled except by prayer and fasting (Matt.17:21). Last month at the Kuala Lumpur Emerge (our annual youth conference in Malaysia), many commented that the preaching of the Word and the ministry time were some of the best they have ever had. Honestly, I didn’t feel any different. In fact, I felt I didn’t preach too well in a couple of the sessions because I was tired due to my long fast. However, many attendees sent me text messages and emails to say that their lives were so impacted and irrevocably changed. As I reflect on this, I can clearly see that God Himself was doing the work. He had so anointed my voice and let His power flow freely through the laying on of my hands. The presence and power of God made a huge difference in my time at KL.

My thoughts:
Fasting really helps me in my spiritual walk. It keeps me on track with God and always remember him. Because i dont eat, its a sacrifice. Whatever i do, i always feel that God is with me. Why dont you try it out yourself?

Welcome to ST JOHN'S ISLAND! We arrived for Day 2 of ET Zone's Castaway Camp...!

The road from the pier to the bunks was rather long and full of slopes. About 10 minutes. Especially long for the guys cos they were carrying the lunches for 150 hungry campers!

Mr Isaac Leong (in blue) was complaining the whole way. HAHA! Morning PT for you Isaac!

Camp Medic Aileen stopped us before we entered into the camp to take our temperatures... H1N1 precautions...

Cleared! And off to the 1st morning session!

We worshipped...

And my 偶像preacher preached! Thank God I came in time to listen to a great message on APOLOGETICS (: He tackled issues about gambling, clubbing, drinking, and why we should go to church. Preach it man!

Jared even had dramas to illustrate his points. We discovered a new talent in Mr Lim Tian Yi, who did an exaggerated mimic of a geek who needed to stay @ home to study for his 'O' levels in February. HAHAHA!

After the morning session, I proceeded to the Leaders' bunk... We didn't have air-conditioning... but there were good ol' fashioned wall mount fans!

Don't the bunk look like the army camps' except with the metal cabinets in between beds amiss??!

Anyway, I wonder who dares to sleep at the 2 ends, nearest to the doors! :S

All thanks to See Wan who diligently & 'sacrificially' cleaned up the kitchen throughout the camp! Shall not 'destroy' her by taking her front view! HAHAHA!

Now after lunch, it's off for MORE telematch games! Their spirits and flags were high...

... but sadly the rain came down.... So we had to postpone the game till the rain stopped...

The Citrus house teams were very smart. 1 of their innovative team identification was... A yellow UMBRELLA! Great for wet weathers!

I enjoyed talking to their team as well as the protection as the rain came... Kekeke!

The teams met up to rehearse for their cheers and dramas for the last night session which will happen in a few hours time...

The teams had to transport members for a distance of about 100+m by piggy-backing 1 another. The person who is being carried has to use his/her mouth to eat/pull off the food items from the different colored strings as fast as possible.

Yes, this is the 'gold' that they were digging for! Waterbomb bags! They were so enthusiastic about searching for the bags so that they could make MORE bombs for their next game...

But that's not the end. The big battle will happen on the field where they go all out to snatch points... and of course attack each other with their hundreds of waterbombs!

Soon, the games for the camp ended.

At night, we had the dramas, night session plus prize presentations (including spoof awards complete with the dramatization of the persons being spoofed!). I was too busy enjoying myself to take any photos!

I must say that the campers this year are possibly the best crowd I've seen! They were open to God and His word resulting in strong presence of God in the sessions. They were sporting and spontaneous. They cheered for each other teams during the drama, they cheered when the video broke down, they sang and clapped to the music of the video as they watched it. AMAZING.

Thanks to all the youth leaders who made it such an awesome camp (according to the camp surveys collected! (:) and of course to the very on campers from....

I have been to all the ET zone camps - Camps Fission & Camp Phenomenal etc? (I lost count!) One word to describe it is...

Hahaha! It's true! But no pain no gain right?

In every of the camps, we gained friendships, unity, encounters with God and many precious memories.

So, get ready for late nights and early mornings, alot of cheering, alot of rehearsing for the drama, alot of chiong-ing through the games, many experiences with the Lord.

Sports Championship League

We had a very dramatic service today with Ps Stephen Munsey. He preached using a one-man drama about the story of the 10 lepers, and he zoomed in on 1 particular leper's story.

He wanted to illustrate the importance of forgiveness in moving on in life.

The level of your forgiveness=the level of your faith!

There is great power in FORGIVENESS!

The altar call was given and the presence of God was so strong...

After service, we adjourned to Bishan for our Sports Day!

There were 7 teams competing this week. But this time round, we didn't win at all. BUT, it really didn't matter.

The fun, fellowship, adrenalin, exercise, sun-tan (or burn) is what truly matters! (:

Fashion Runway

Today, we had our subzone game- Fashion Runway!

The 10 teams of 6-7 people ran off for a mini Scavenger Hunt which will lead them to the Simsville Condo @ Paya Lebar for the actual event.

E99 sent 2 teams- Richard's and Sijia's. And we want to welcome our new friends who joined in the fun: Jason (who left halfwaycos he was sick...), Lachron (whose leg was in a full cast but still played!), Audris, Hannah, Joan and Liangzhe!

The teams that were early helped to lay newspapers all over.

Then the teams used newspapers, magazines, some glitter colored paper and the paint we provided them below to start doing up their Ed Hardy designs on mahjong paper aka their Ed Hardy shirts!

Here were the 4 designs that the teams had to choose from.

Here are the 10 teams @ work. They had to finish up their designs within 1.5hours!

This is truly creativity and teamwork at its best!

After about 45mins, the teams started to add colors!

Ok... Now let's see how our home teams were doing...

I am so proud of this team. Cos they met with a small 'disaster' just before the game ended- The table beside them slided and knocked down a cup of paint water all over their geisha!

BUT, the members kept their spirits up and thought of creative ways to salvage the situation. They came up with a creative design still! Best thing was- THEIR SUPERB ATTITUDE. In my eyes, YOU GUYS are the winners! *Applause*!!!

After the game was over, the members enjoyed a 6-course high-tea. In the meantime, the judges were splitting their brains over which designs to win the 2nd runner prize of Starbucks vouchers, 1st runner up prize of a Jap food hamper and the top prize of $140 Capitaland vouchers!!!

Finally, the winners were announced. The 2nd and 3rd place went to N391's teams. But the winner went to ...

I think that every team deserved to win today because everyone of them played a part and worked very very hard to come up with such beautiful designs. *Clap clap clap*!!!

righttt. so i didn’t get a chance to share during cell, but i really want to share how good God is! (: sooo here it is:

#1 – SOT’09
one line: MY DAD’S PAYING FOR MY SOT SCHOOL FEES!!!!!
was really quite worried about the fees coz there’s still building fund and it’s been quite challenging for me already. but Praise God, for this BIG BIG BIG BIG blessing! WOOTS! excited for what’s coming up for me in SOT! =P

#2 – MUM’S GENEROUSITY
firstly, mum has never been generous, compared to daddy. HAHA. she likes to give us ‘just enough’ money to spend. but but but, i dunnoe what’s with her, but she said that she’s gonna give each of us $100, out of the blue! that’s a miracle k! :D

#3 – JOB OPPORTUNITIES
my schoolmate from JC called me! (: and guess what? He’s offering me tuition opportunities near my house! This is because his sister set up a tuition website, and since i’m her brother’s friend, she’s really helping me get good tuition jobs that are near, and pays well! and so, im anticipating for good tuition assignments to help me lighten my building fund load! =P

#4 – GREAT FRIENDS
received many blessings from the friends around me, like richard, and my dear mengching! i told her i didn’t bare to spend $$ buying a new notebook for sermons last week after svc. and when i met her in school for lecture, she passed me this:

CNY Steamboat

Hey ALL! After MANY weeks of NIL updates, here are pictures of our steamboat outing yesterday.

This is Weiqiang's shoe. It is not just some ordinary shoe... We told Weiqiang, walking in it is like walking on cash... No wonder he had to take cab home. Cannot afford it to land in some pile of mud....

Our CG took up 2 tables at the steamboat restuarant. The BIG BOYS + Sijia took 1. They were the ONLY table in the 2 subzones who complained that the food was not good. We from the other table investigated and realized why...

Now, Sijia's new resolution, is to be more gentle in the year 2009. EVERYBODY, please remind her everytime you see her. Cos apparently as of yesterday, she has not changed...

After much eating.... we decided to have an inter-CG Eating Competition.

I was looking through some photos of our cg, and thought why not blog about the HISTORY of our cg...!

HAHA! E99 suddenly sounds very old!

In our church, we are already reaching E500, and that makes E99 sounds even more ancient. Well here are some facts!

When did E99 come into existence?

I joined E99 when it just started out. That means it probably got started in the mid to late 1999, cos I came to CHC in September 1999.

How old is E99?

Do your maths and you will know E99 is about 9 years old! OLD!!! It's only 3 years younger than Huilin aka Natalyn! :O

Who was the 1st CGL?

Dawn Leong was the 1st CGL, Edmund Tay was the helper... and of course Jer Blinn Lim was the NEWCOMER then!

Other facts...

E99 was probably the FIRST cg in ET zone.

ET zone leaders who passed through E99 were my husband Jared Lim, Cheong Jun Er, Edmund Tan, Seet Suting, Tan Shi Ying aka Shing, Joseph Kwek, Michele Tan, Stephanie Chan... And soon to be leaders David Ang and Sandy Wong.

All of them left me behind all these years... and soooo E99 was my first and ever cg in my life! I AM AN E99 DINOSAURRRRRR! And I am proud of it!

ROARRRR!!! =)))

So presenting some photos E99 had over the years... (you notice there were more photos during the latter years cos last time, digi cam was not so popular!)

It's good looking back... But for us in E99 now... Let's look forward and run this good race together!

Dearest E99, just want to say a BIG Thank You for being around for the testimony during the Grand Finale of Asia Conference!

All the arrangements and re-arrangements and re-re-arrangements! HAHA! But it's not about what we do, but the company we have right? ;)

Anyway, just want you all to know that MANY MANY people (including the Pastors) came up to say that the testimony was v impactful... Cos of the members who went up the stage ... that means YOU GUYS! So THANK YOU once again. U cannot imagine the individuals who were impacted because of your simple action that night....

Also, during this Asia Conference, I was really impacted by the Word, the videos and the new worship song - The God We Know. We are saved to be STRONG & FAITHFUL, to STRENGTHEN THE WEAK, to be a TOWER OF REFUGE & to be the LIGHT OF THE CITY.

It's not about the BIG things we do... But it's really the little actions we do to impact ONE life at a time.

The small small actions are like:
1. Studying hard! ;p (Being a good eg inspires people!)
2. Blessing someone with a card/gift
3. Being there for someone in their times of difficulty or need
4. Speaking a kind word
5. A loving rebuke! (I believe a friend who cares is a friend who dares to speak a word to 'wake' you up!)
6. Giving good advice + going an extra mile
7. Many many more. Can you think of more? :)

So E99, I really believe U can be the Light of the city. When you learn to live life not for yourselves... you will start to see lives change because of U!

When The Roof Cave In (8 August 2008)

On Friday we learnt that even when the area of our life turns to become worst, we must always make sure to renew ourselves.

Firstly there are 3 Reponses that we will question ourselves

Why Me? (This leads to Anger)
Who Cares? (This leads to Fear)
What Now? (This leads to Doubt)

John 20:19

"Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be with you."

Thus there are 4 Things we need to do to ensure to keep at the correct track

Have a fresh revelation of Jesus
We need to hear God's Voice

John 10:27-28

"My sheep hear My Voice, and I know them, and the follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand."

Have faith in Jesus's work on the cross
We need to step out again

John 20:21

"So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you."

Remember that God's Purpose for our life is always greater than what i face.

2 Corinthians 1:8-10

"For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyong measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. Servanthood (10 August 2008)

At Service today Pastor Kong share the sermon about servanthood, we can especially apply on what we learn today in our Cell Group, thus it will definitely build E99 to become a stronger Cell Group.

There are 7 Qualities of Servanthood

Servanthood is willing (always follow ethusiatically)

Genesis 24:18-19

"So she said, "Drink, my lord." Then she quickly let her pitcher down to her hand, and gave him a drink. And when she had finished giving him a drink, she said, "I will draw water for your camels also, until they have finished drinking."

Servanthood excels

"Excellence" means exceeding all expectations!

"Excellence" is the attention given to details (destiny) that leads to superior performance.

Servanthood is swift
Servanthood is never convenient

Luke 17:7-8

"And which of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field,'Come at once and sit down to eat'? "But will he not rather say to him, 'Prepare something for my supper, and gird yourself and serve me till I have eaten and drunk, and afterward you will eat and drink'?"

Servanthood is honoring
